Development Report: 2017-2018

We thrive on the support from our unbelievable community. In addition to annual fundraising, as we begin the 2018-2019 academic year, we are also kicking off a $1,500,000 Capital Campaign to secure a permanent location for GES and begin an endowment!  As we take this time to reflect on the last school year, We are excited and encouraged to see the many layers and levels of school support being uncovered. We look forward to the 2018-2019 school year and all the potential it brings. As we root deeper into the best practices for children and learning, we invite you to join us!

Each year, GES relies on our families and the greater community to contribute beyond the yearly tuition, which only covers82% of the cost to educate each child. Our annual development goal is to raise the necessary funds to bridge the gap between tuition and the cost to educate a child at GES, cover planned enrichment & improvements to benefit our students, faculty & facility, and also to provide financial assistance to students in need.  During our 18th year of providing the greater Greenbrier Valley with progressive education and a school choice, donations to the Greenbrier Episcopal School annual fund and fundraising activities totaled over $105,000 for the year ending June 30, 2018.  

In Fiscal Year 2017-2018
·       Student to faculty ratio was 7:1
·       Our faculty taught 76 students, ages 18 months to 8th grade 
·       Our Operating Budget was$489,650
·       108% of our AnnualFundraising goal was achieved
·       100% of our Board ofTrustees and Administrative Staff contributed to the Annual Fund
·       20% of our revenue resulted from Annual Fundraising
·       66% of our revenue resulted from tuition and fees
·       54% of our student population received financial assistance
·       83% of our revenue was paid to faulty & staff salaries and benefits
In Fiscal Year 2017-2018:

GreenbrierEpiscopal School is a school based on community. Parents and teachers are an integral part of a child’s foundation in forming an unbreakable partnership for the betterment of each student. Our students love school. They are proud of their accomplishments and their opportunities to impact the larger community through student led service projects, special events and school activities.They value the community we have all created and make us proud wherever we witness their successes, both large and small.  Collectively, we continue to make GES a financially stable school where the views and opinions of administrators, faculty, board members, parents and students who make up our school community are unquestionably valued.

$365 Campaign

We believe strongly, that our little school, GreenbrierEpiscopal, is a wonderful example of how small things can come together to make a sum that is infinitely stronger than its parts.  We have drawn inspiration from Harshman’s book and created our own composition for this year’s annual fund campaign.

Because we believe that learning and discovery takes place 365 days per year, this annual fund we are having a $365 campaign.

Our goal is for 50 individuals or entities to give $365 each.  Know that each contribution is a part that comes together to make up a greater whole. We ask you to partner with us. The growth and expansion of GES is made possible by the tremendous involvement of our families, the dedication of our volunteers, the talents of our supporters, the energy and commitment of our faculty and board members and through the generous gifts of our donors, like you.

Funds raised from our annual campaign go to support our teachers and staff, to expand programs, to address plant needs and to help fund financial assistance provided to students.  Please consider making a meaningful gift to GES, a tax deductible, non-profit organization.

About GES

Our school community is a place of collaboration, trust and civility.  We are a community of learners with classes from 18 months to 8th grade.  Our pedagogy is innovative, our values are grounded in time honored tradition with a commitment to be on the forefront of the progressive ideas that produce the best education and learning environments.
